Fluidic nanoArray
MicroDysis patented and has been developing a fluidic array technology. The
fluidic array consists of a fluidic network of probe and sample microchannels
with SWNT detection spots at the intersection of the microchannels. The SWNT
spots with COOH function groups on the nanotube surfaces can effectively immobilize
oligo and other biological probes by microfluidic liquid delivery, so that a fluidic
array can be configured by the number of probes necessary to interrogate the desired
number of targets, or the number of samples to be analyzed. For DNA analysis, a test
can be based on a series of independent assays that indicate the presence or absence
of each target gene sequence.
The fluidic array permits the use of multiple probes per gene imposing an unprecedented
degree of stringency on the test, resulting in the practical elimination of false positive readings.
The window of the detection area on the fluidic nanoArray is compatible with that of
a standard DNA microarray. An adapter has been made to hold the array, so that it can
to be read by commercially available microarray scanner.
Fluidic Workstation has been made for oligo/antibody probe configuration and target sample
incubation in the Fluidic nanoArray. By placing the Fluidic nanoArray on the fluidic
workstation, it can be customized as an antibody array or DNA array.
While injecting a sample into the channels, the targets can be analyzed and identified by an
immunoassay. With the functionalized and vertically embedded carbon nanotubes, the efficiency of
oligo or antibody/antigen immobilization will be significantly increased. With the fluidic workstation,
the Fluidic nanoArray can be easily operated and customized. With the fluidic dynamic reaction,
the reproducibility and sensitivity will be increased and the non-specific binding decreased.
The Fluidic nanoArray is an open platform for multiplex probe and multiple sample analysis. It
also features easy customization, flexible assay format, and ease-to-use.
